Deciding that a loved one needs treatment can be one of the most difficult choices a family faces. The transition to or from a program may bring anger, fear, sadness, resentment, or feelings of rejection and abandonment. Therapeutic transport provides more than a ride—it offers a calm, supportive presence during an emotionally charged journey.
Drawing on years of behavioral health experience, I provide a structured, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment throughout the trip. I listen without judgment while remaining attentive and focused on the individual’s safety, comfort, and well-being.
Whether your loved one is traveling across town or across the country, each transport is approached with careful planning, discretion, and dignity—helping them reach their destination with steady support along the way.
Lucid provides therapeutic transport for planned transitions throughout the treatment and recovery process. Each transport is approached with care, discretion, and attention to the individual’s emotional and practical needs.
Transport options include:
Whether the trip is local or long-distance, the goal is to provide steady, respectful support from departure through arrival.
Lucid provides voluntary therapeutic transport for adolescents and adults ages 13 and older. The individual must be willing to participate in the planned trip and, when applicable, enter treatment. Lucid does not provide involuntary, secure, or physically assisted transportation. Each request is carefully evaluated to determine whether Lucid can provide an appropriate level of support.
Every transport begins with a confidential consultation to understand the individual’s needs, current circumstances, destination, and travel requirements. When a transport is appropriate, I coordinate the itinerary and develop a clear plan for departure, travel, communication, and arrival. Throughout the trip, I provide a calm, structured, and nonjudgmental presence while remaining attentive to the individual’s emotional and practical needs. Families receive hourly updates when travel conditions safely allow, followed by a post-trip report after the transport is complete.
Both ground and air transportation are available for local and long-distance travel. Services may include transportation across town, throughout Tennessee, or to programs and facilities across the country. Family members may travel with us when appropriate and arranged in advance. Urgent requests may also be considered based on availability, travel requirements, and the individual’s needs.
Medication assistance may be available when discussed and arranged before departure. This may include securely holding medication and helping the individual follow an established medication schedule in accordance with written instructions. Medication needs must be reviewed during the initial consultation to determine whether they can be appropriately supported during transport.
Every transport is approached with dignity, respect, and the least restrictive level of support appropriate for the situation. My role is to reduce distress, maintain clear boundaries, and help the individual move through the transition as calmly and safely as possible. Because all Lucid transports are voluntary, the individual must remain willing to continue with the planned trip. If the circumstances require physical intervention, secure transportation, emergency medical care, or law-enforcement involvement, Lucid is not the appropriate provider.
Therapeutic transport is a private-pay service and is not covered by insurance. Pricing consists of a flat service fee plus transportation and travel-related expenses. A personalized estimate is provided after the initial consultation and review of the itinerary. Costs may vary based on distance, method of travel, timing, accommodations, and the level of coordination required.
